STB UI update process

AKASH Digital TV has recently updated the STB UI for its subscribers. This update has been attempted to be implemented across all subscribers through automatic process for their STBs. As on April 2022, these update process has been completed for the final round. There will be no more update after. But some of the STBs were not updated due to some technical issues during implementation.

We would like to update all of our subscriber’s STB UI to enjoy the world class experience of AKASH. In order to do so, we are herewith sharing the information on how to update the STB UI manually by the subscribers themselves.

Applicable for Coship N8784B, Coship N8814BD, Skyworth SRT7511
Device Needed: USB Disk

Software Upgrade Checking for STBs

Coship N8784B: Last Version 9
Coship N8814BD: Last Version 5
Skyworth SRT7511: Last Version 9

After OTA upgrade,
Coship N8784B: Latest Version 13
Coship N8814BD: Latest Version 7
Skyworth SRT7511: Latest Version 18


Coship N8784B

Customer can do the following Steps to check the Software is updated to latest Version

  1. At first, Press Help Button from RCU or Press Menu>Go to Help Page
  2. Customer will see the below picture
  3. If the STB Serial Starts with N8784B ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXX” then customer will follow the below procedures as follows:
  4. Press Menu from RCU
  5. Go to AKASH Settings
  6. Go to CAS Information
  7. Go to Loader Status
  8. Check L/ DSN
  9. If the L/DSN is 9, Customer is eligible for software upgrade

Customer can download the latest software manually by the following process:

  1. To download the software update please CLICK HERE for N8784B
  2. Copy the file to the USB (Before copying the file, the USB need to be formatted)
  3. Unplug the power adapter
  4. Insert the USB disk to the USB port
  5. Keep Pressing the CH+ Button from the front panel of the STB until the below page shows:
  6. When the software download will be successful, the box will reboot and land on the barker channel.
  7. To check the updated version, customer needs to do the follow steps.
  8. Press Menu from RCU
  9. Go to AKASH Settings
  10. Go to CAS Information
  11. Go to Loader Status
  12. Check L/ DSN
  13. If the L/DSN is 13, the Set Top Box is successfully upgraded.



Coship N8814BD

Customer can do the following Steps to check the Software is updated to latest Version

  1. At first, Press Help Button from RCU or Press Menu>Go to Help Page
  2. Customer will see the below picture
  3. If the STB Serial Starts with N8784B ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXX” then customer will follow the below procedures as follows:
  4. Press Menu from RCU
  5. Go to AKASH Settings
  6. Go to CAS Information
  7. Go to Loader Status
  8. Check L/ DSN
  9. If the L/DSN is 5, Customer is eligible for software upgrade

Customer can download the latest software manually by the following process:

  1. To download the software update please CLICK HERE for STB N8814BD
  2. Copy the file to the USB (Before copying the file, the USB need to be formatted)
  3. Unplug the power adapter
  4. Insert the USB disk to the USB port
  5. Keep Pressing the CH+ Button from the front panel of the STB until the below page shows:
  6. When the software download will be successful, the box will reboot and land on the barker channel.
  7. To check the updated version, customer needs to do the follow steps.
  8. Press Menu from RCU
  9. Go to AKASH Settings
  10. Go to CAS Information
  11. Go to Loader Status
  12. Check L/ DSN
  13. If the L/DSN is 7, The Box is successfully upgraded.



Skyworth SRT 7511

Customer can do the following Steps to check the Software is updated to latest Version

  1. At first, Press Help Button from RCU or Press Menu>Go to Help Page
  2. Customer will see the below picture
  3. If the STB Serial Number Starts with N8814BD “XXXXXXXXXXX”, then customer will follow the below procedures as follows:
  4. Press Menu from RCU
  5. Go to AKASH Settings
  6. Go to CAS Information
  7. Go to Loader Status
  8. Check L/ DSN
  9. If the L/DSN is 9, Customer is eligible for software upgrade

Customer can download the latest software manually by the following process:

  1. To download the software update please CLICK HERE for STB SRT 7511
  2. Copy the file to the USB (Before copying the file, the USB need to be formatted)
  3. Unplug the power adapter
  4. Insert the USB disk to the USB port
  5. Plugin the power adapter
  6. Wait for few seconds until the Message displays on the Screen “New Version Available for Download, Press OK to proceed”:
  7. After pressing OK, the below screen will appear:
  8. When the software download will be successful, the box will reboot and land on the barker channel.
  9. To check the updated version, customer needs to do the follow steps.
  10. Press Menu from RCU
  11. Go to AKASH Settings
  12. Go to CAS Information
  13. Go to Loader Status
  14. Check L/ DSN
  15. If the L/DSN is 18, The Box is successfully upgraded.
